General anesthesia in the office

-Adding an anesthesiologist to your care team will improve your efficiency so that you can schedule more patients per day. Dentists and surgeons who perform in-office procedures know that the main source of unproductive time during the work day is the time from the patient sitting in the examination chair to the actual start of the procedure. For many procedures, the process of reassuring even a non-anxious patient and achieving a good block with local anesthetic averages 25-30 minutes, and with an anxious patient it can be close to an hour before full numbness is reached. With an anesthesiologist as part of your care team, you will be ready to begin your procedure in less than 15 minutes. Also, you will be able to do longer procedures in one session without the need for the necessary breaks of an awake patient.

What we do

Halo provides the full range of anesthesia care in nontraditional settings such as outpatient dental or medical offices. We have a streamlined system, with a strong emphasis on patient safety and comfort. With an anesthesiologist as part of your team, procedure time will be maximized by having the patient ready in just a few minutes. With our streamlined system our total footprint in your office is negligible. We arrive with a professional toolkit and stackable cases that contain everything necessary to provide safe and comfortable anesthesia care. At the end of the procedure, the patient will be sufficiently awake for discharge in 15 to 30 minutes, on average. With a significantly faster time from the patient arriving in the procedure room to the actual start of the procedure, you will find that your front desk staff can schedule more patients per day!

How it works

  • From the moment the patient sits in your exam chair all of our preparation is already finished. We are ready to quickly place an IV catheter and begin the IV anesthetic.
  • Modern anesthetics have a very fast onset and you will be ready to begin in minutes.
  • You can place all your local anesthetic blocks just as you would on an awake patient but, with our involvement you will not have to wait for the block to set up. You can get right to work on the procedure.
  • The patient will be kept safe and comfortable throughout the procedure. It makes no difference if the procedure lasts just a few minutes or many hours.
  • At the end of the procedure the patient will be ready to go home with their prearranged escort in only the time it takes to remove the IV and monitors.
  • For providers already performing their own sedation, having an anesthesiologist as part of your care team will be safer and will eliminate the management of the anesthetic, including the dangers of managing the airway. This allows the provider to focus exclusively on the procedure.
  • There is no cost to the provider for including us on your care team. The patient will be responsible for our professional fees and we will assist them in getting reimbursed for whatever their insurance allows.
  • Our total footprint in your office is surprisingly small. Our entire mobile anesthesia setup is carried in toolboxes which stack together.
  • We will coordinate scheduling with your office staff. The advantages of improved efficiency are naturally multiplied by scheduling multiple anesthesia cases in a row and we will work with your staff and your patients to accomplish that goal.
  • For larger procedures, which would ordinarily require several office visits, we can help you get multiple procedures done in one session. Some providers will choose to do their anesthesia cases during off hours or even on weekends and we are open to that option as well. When anesthesia cases are done on a day when the office is normally closed, the provider will not need a full office staff on duty. With one provider and their assistant working with an anesthesiologist, we can treat several patients with this comprehensive care team model.

We look forward to working with you to improve your efficiency and your patient satisfaction.
